Lake Gardno is a coastal lake on the Slovincian Coast in the Słowiński National Park. It is separated from the sea by asandspit. The waters of LakeGardno, like most Polish lakes, also attract freediving enthusiasts, i.e. diving while holding your breath.
Information about the village located on the western side of Lake Łebsko dates back to the 17th century. Theinhabitants were a Slavic people who were Germanized quite quickly, but the Slovincians retained the sense of theirown identity and ethnic distinctiveness until the end.
After World War II, the Slovincians, recognized as Germans, had to leave their homes and emigrate. The SlovincianVillage Museum in Kluki cultivates the memory of the existence of the Slovincian community and of their traditions, beliefs and customs.
The houses and farm buildings in the open-air museum are built using the skeleton construction technologycharacteristic of these areas. The rooms store memorabilia, paintings, furniture and tools. In the 1970s, the CentralPomerania Museum in Słupsk created a large open-air museum in Kluki. And so, over time, on ten hectares, the layoutof houses and farmsteads as well as wells, bread ovens and cellars were recreated.
Ethnographic events organized by the Regional Museum allow tourists to see how the people who once inhabited thevillages by the lakes Łebsko and Gardno lived.
One of the biggest attractions is the festival associated with the tradition of peat extraction, i.e. "Black Wedding",which is a great complement to seaside attractions. You can also bake bread, make a pot or weave a net.
